Phone rings. Cora glances up from the paper; the comic section. Cadence sits on the couch across from her, fiddling with the remote and cursing discreetly under his breath. He pauses and turns toward the sound. But no one picks it up.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

"Hello, you've reached la maison de Cadence, leave your message after the 'meep'. MEEP!"

He snickers. She raises her eyebrows, brushing a strand of stray curls out of her eyes and sitting up straighter, legs folded gracefully underneath her. Cora casts him a captioned look of, 'I'm not getting it.'

Cadence squints his eyes and sneers jokingly, though perhaps somewhere deep down it's an honest sneer.

"Hello, Mr. Blaire, this is an important message concerning your financial status."

"My financial status?" he repeats,  turning it into a question. He gets up and walks over to the coffee table, picking up the phone and collapsing on the loveseat next to Cora. Cora edges away an inch or so; perhaps for personal space, perhaps not. "Huh. Is that so." Cadence presses the speaker button, and picks up.  "Hello," he says animatedly.

"Hello, Mr. Blaire," responds a woman's voice from the other end of the line. "I'd like to talk to you about something that you might like to invest in today. It's a-"

"I'm sorry, the person you are." Cadence, in his best automated voice, starts and then stops after the word 'are', as though at the end of the sentence. He can feel the confusion and embarrassment at the other end of the line, static and prickly through the phone line. For a moment he almost feels bad, but as she begins to gather her bearings and continue, he cuts her off and finishes with, "Trying to get a hold of is currently unavailable."

Cora furrows her brows, running a hand through her morning-messy hair and smiling ever so slightly at his antics. "Brilliant," she mutters sarcastically. "Find that on Google, did you?"

He presses the "OFF" button and turns to face her. Grins.
Another prompt of :icongaarapwnssasuke:'s, from her list, featured here: [link] I've changed my mind; I no longer intend to do all of them, because some just...I'd never have motivation to write them. Some of them just give me ideas. Which I suppose is the point, lol.
